Celebrate the planet at this year’s Greening the Earth and Armory Family Festival in Pasadena on Saturday, April 24. From 10am-4pm, enjoy the sounds of local bands, the fun of arts and crafts, the sight of live animals, plus display information on green lifestyles and a guided bicycle tour of the city’s green projects and facilities.
This free festival takes place at Memorial Park, Armory Center for the Arts and on Raymond Av between Walnut and Holly St; all locations are just a short walk from the Metro Gold Line Memorial Park Station. Metro riders receive an Earth Day reusable bag when they show their Metro pass, Metro Rail ticket or Destination Discounts card at the Transportation Booth. Free and open to the public, the all-ages event will entertain you with live music from local bands, dancing, and an interactive drum circle. Children have fun at earth-friendly art workshops, and the Armory Center opens its doors to visitors to enjoy special exhibits and film screenings. Eco-friendly exhibitors will display and sell green living products, organic foods, solar power, electric and hybrid vehicles, and green building products. Learn more about water and energy conservation, waste reduction, recycling and other Green City initiatives. C.I.C.L.E. will lead a guided bicycle tour of Pasadena’s green projects at 11am. Win an energy efficient clothes washer from PWP at the California Cash for Appliances table. New this Year: A “Free Market” swap meet, organized by Arroyo Time Bank. Bring stuff to trade or donate at this cash-free bazaar. On the eve of the festival, don’t miss a special screening of “DIRT” at the historic Raymond Theater, across from Memorial Park.
