California cities and counties are required by law to use a “.gov” or “.ca.gov” domain for their public-facing websites and employee email addresses by January 1, 2029, as outlined in Assembly Bill (AB) 1637 signed by Governor Newsom

While there are still cities that have not transitioned their city websites and emails to .gov a few notables stand out, in particular the city of Pasadena using .net.

Comparable sized cities as municipalities are using .gov such as Glendale and Burbank.   And even cities like Arcadia and La Canada Flintridge are following the mandate.

Pasadena – https://www.cityofpasadena.net/ – the only city using .net that I could find as their primarily public facing domain and emails.  Very odd and unusual. Although the city apparently has .gov it is not using it and starting to make the migration for some reason.

Temple City https://www.ci.temple-city.ca.us/

Rosemead https://www.cityofrosemead.org/

San Gabriel https://www.sangabrielcity.com/

El Monte https://www.ci.el-monte.ca.us/

Duarte – https://www.accessduarte.com/

Alhambra – https://www.cityofalhambra.org/

We will reach out to a few of these cities and see what the reasons are for not making the migration/transition.  Perhaps they think they have plenty of time.  The bill was signed in 2023. and we are two years into the period.  There’s no reason that cities should not be making the move now.

When most people look at purchasing or leasing an EV they rarely look at the EV infrastructure.   If you buy or own a Tesla, the reliability of EV charging is without a doubt the best and most reliable.

If you own a non-Tesla, and are going to rely on the infrastructure and chargers installed by the city of Pasadena, you are going to be in for a HUGE disappointment.  The majority of the DC fast chargers that have been installed by the city DO NOT WORK.  And most of the Chademo connectors on chargers that supposedly are supposed to work DO NOT WORK.

This includes recently opened charging facilities at Robinson Park, where maybe 2 of 5 chargers have working CCS connectors, non of the Chademo connectors work.

Victory Park, 0 of 3 Chademo connectors work.

Shoppers Lane – most of the CCS chargers DO NOT WORK.

Glen Arm – Most chargers do not work.

Marengo – large install, No Chargers are working operated by the city  of Pasadena, on PowerFlex platform.

There are NO PWP branded Chademo chargers that work in the city of Pasadena.  Although there are over a dozen that supposed to be capable of charging on Chademo.

Cities that have attempted to implement EV charging like Pasadena, CA have failed miserably.  And especially when compared to the practically side by side implementation of EV chargers by Tesla and that of the City of Pasadena.

Why is this?  Well we hear a lot of excuses, but no solutions.  After years in delays and chargers sitting in storage, we have the situation we have now.

The current manager of EV charging in Pasadena has been in the position for four years and with the city for 15.  Plenty of time to fix the issue.

Meanwhile we hear about consultants being hired and RFP’s being sent out…. after the fiasco and hundreds of thousands that have been spent in government grants and subsidies it is embarrassing to see what is going on with EV charging in Pasadena.

Pasadena Homicide on Wednesday, March 26, at 700 block Rio Grande St.

Pasadena, CA – On March 26, 2025, at 6:16 PM, officers from the Pasadena PoliceDepartment responded to the scene of a single-car collision in the 700 block of Rio Grande St.Upon arrival, officers located a male inside a vehicle that had crashed along the north curbline. The male had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was unresponsive. Officers and then paramedics from the Pasadena Fire Department attempted life-saving measures. The male did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery / Homicide Unit (RHU) and an investigator from the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner responded to the crime scene to commence an immediate follow-up investigation.

The victim has been identified as a 19-year-old resident of El Monte. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending a next of kin notification.

Updated Health Officer Order Requires Dust Control Measures for Fire Debris Removal in Palisades and Eaton Burn Areas

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued an updated Health Officer Order requiring property owners within the Palisades and Eaton burn areas who plan to remove fire debris from their property but are not eligible for the government-run debris removal program (Phase 1 or Phase 2) to use best management practices for dust control during fire debris removal, transport, and disposal. These measures are essential to protect the health and wellbeing of those involved in fire debris removal and residents in surrounding areas.

Property owners or their contractors must adhere to the following dust control measures:

General Dust Control Measures

• Water and/or an approved dust palliative must be used at each site to prevent dust nuisances.
• Before removal, all areas of ash and debris must be pre-watered using a fine spray nozzle to prevent splashing.

Fire Debris Transportation

• All fire debris must be transported to an approved landfill in a manner that prevents dust from escaping.
• Loads must be wetted and covered with a tarp, including concrete and metal debris.
• Ash and loose fire debris must be fully encapsulated with 10-mil plastic prior to loading and transport.

End-of-Day Debris Management

• Any fire debris not removed or disposed of by the end of each workday must be consolidated, sufficiently wetted, and/or covered to prevent offsite migration of dust or contaminants.

Watering Dry Soil Areas

• All visibly dry, disturbed soil surface areas must be watered during work to minimize dust emissions.

Trackout Prevention and Cleanup

• Property owners or contractors must prevent dirt, dust, or debris from being tracked out onto public or private roads. If trackout occurs, cleanup must be done immediately, especially at site entrances and exits.
• All visible trackout must be removed at the end of each workday.
• Cleanup must include adequate wetting before or during the cleanup by either misting and manually sweeping or using a rotary brush or broom. The use of blower devices or dry rotary brushes/brooms to remove trackout is strictly prohibited.

Public Health requires all property owners and contractors to follow these measures to protect community health and ensure fire debris removal is conducted safely and responsibly.
