More extensive version:
As a supporter of the California Association of Museums and an active member of multiple cultural institutions in the Pasadena region, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the March 14 Executive Order to make further cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Please support California’s museums and OPPOSE these cuts.
The IMLS agency provides essential funding and guidance for museums throughout California and the US. As you know, museums are community centers that make communities more attractive places to live, work, and visit. California museums like mine rely on the support of IMLS.
Please, please speak up to the Administration about the importance of preserving IMLS. It needs to continue to operate as a Congressionally authorized independent agency that Congress has appropriated funds for on a bipartisan basis for decades. IMLS plays an outsized role in preserving museum work for the small expenditure. Support for museums is overwhelmingly popular: 96% of Americans approve of lawmakers who act to support museums and 96% of Americans want to maintain or increase federal funding for museums! Thank you.

If IMLS is destroyed, we would lose many jobs. Many would have to shut their doors permanently, and our communities would lose an important economic, scientific, and cultural center.}
