Dear Friend,
All of us at Homeboy Industries cordially invite you to join us for the 9th Annual Lo Maximo Awards
Dinner on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
Homegirl Café will serve outstanding appetizers as a prelude to a sumptuous dinner prepared by the
renowned Marriott chefs.
We are pleased to announce this year’s honorees. All are great friends of Homeboy Industries, and
support our mission of service to at-risk youth transitioning beyond gangs, and working toward building
hope for their futures. In addition, a Homeboy or Homegirl will be acknowledged for setting an inspiring
example for others. We are proud to announce the following:
Recipient of the Homeboy Community Service Award
Charlie Beck, Chief, Los Angeles Police Department
Recipients of the first Homeboy Media Award
Chris Weitz, Director, Paul Junger Witt and Jami Gertz, Producers of the film,
A Better Life
While this past year has been challenging, our doors remain wide open. We have much to celebrate and many to thank. Homeboy Bakery is making many friends, with a presence in farmers markets throughout
greater Los Angeles. Homeboy General Store at Los Angeles City Hall opens soon, followed by Homegirl Café
in the LAX American concourse. We are excited about the launch of Homeboys Chips and Salsas at Ralphs stores across Southern California and hope to see continued success in the sales of these Homeboy products.
We’d be honored to have you come celebrate with us for the benefit of Homeboy Industries and look
forward to seeing you on April 30th.
Warm regards,
Father Gregory J. Boyle, S.J. Carol O. Biondi
