iPhone Notes not saving

For a while now my Notes app on the iPhone has stopped working. Basically I enter notes and close and the notes disappear.

I’m using an iPhone 3GS 16gig.

OS Version 3.1.3 (7E18)

Model: Apple iPhone MC135LL
