iPhone 5 And iOS 6 Jailbreak Released

A release of iOS 6.1, a iOS jailbreak that works on the iPhone 5 is now available.

The untethered workaround, evasi0n, is compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 6.0 through 6.1.

Hackers release Evasi0n jailbreak for Apple’s iOS 6

The hacker collective called Evad3rs released Evasi0n a jailbreak for devices running Apple’s iOS 6 or 6.1.

Released via Evasi0nJailbreak.com and optimized for OS X, Windows and Linux,
Evasi0n creates an untethered jailbreak, meaning users are not required to reconnect their device to the desktop to restart it.

Evad3rs team members also said they are investigating complaints that the jailbreak is causing iOS 6’s stock Weather app to crash.

While jailbroken iOS devices can still access Apple’s iTunes and App Store, users may also download unauthorized applications from alternative mobile software storefronts like Cydia, which features a host of free and premium apps that have run afoul of Apple rules and restrictions.

Founder Jay Freeman recently said that more than 22.8 million jailbroken iOS devices run the Cydia app.

Apple warns against jailbreaking iOS devices.

Unauthorized modifications could result in instability, security breaches, abbreviated battery life and other issues.

iOS device owners who decide to take the EvasiOn plunge should back-up their device through iTunes or iCloud prior to jailbreaking.
