GM CEO Dan Akerson told the Associated Press on Thursday that the automaker will repurchase a Volt if an owner requests it.
Of about 6,400 Volt owners, only 33 have requested a loaner. “A microfraction” of that group has requested that GM repurchase their cars, spokesman Greg Martin said.
Nissan has sold 8,700 Leafs since its launch a year ago. The Japanese automaker expects to hit about 10,000 sales by 2012.
