Fire Service Day/National Police Week Activities
Will Be May 12 In Burbank

BURBANK, Calif. – Come join the Burbank Fire Department for Fire Service Day on Saturday, May 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring live demonstrations, displays, Lil’ Squirt with his special guests and lots more. This year the Fire Department has partnered with the Burbank Police Department and the California Highway Patrol in recognition of National Police Week. The two events will take place together in and around the Police/Fire Building at the intersection of Orange Grove and Third Street. They are open and free to everyone.

Don’t miss this day of fun with Burbank Fire Department displays and demonstrations including vehicle extrication, kid’s obstacle course, Airport Crash Units, Burbank Fire Corp home rescue, street CPR and pool safety. The Burbank Police Department will be present with the ever-popular Police K-9’s, the Dare Van, Special Response Unit and more. Both Fire and Police departments will offer behind-the-scenes tours of their operations facility and the Police-Fire Museum will be open.

This year the California Highway Patrol will once again be on hand to inspect the installation of car seats. CHP officers, nationally certified as car seat technicians, will correct improper installations and provide safety recommendations. The inspection is a free service will be located at the corner of Palm Ave. and Third Street from 9 AM until 1:30 PM. Interested caregivers are encouraged to call (818) 240-8200 to make an appointment.

Other participants and sponsors include Bob Hope Airport Fire/Rescue, Walt Disney and Warner Brothers Fire Departments, the Disney Company, CalOX and the Downtown Burbank Partnership. In addition, Farmers Market, located just behind City Hall and adjacent to fire Service Day activities, will be in full swing from 8:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. This would also be a good opportunity to eat at one of the local restaurants in the downtown area.
