My primary computer has been a notebook from Dell for many years. After seeing a few specials at the Dell site I decided to break down and buy one of the Inspiron 14R models, I placed the order online, thinking that I had added a 3 yr extended warranty. Â Apparently I had not added it since the computer arrived and I went online and checked my service tag and it showed no warranty. I spent no less than 2 hours on the phone with various Dell representatives in countries far away, most likely India where reps give themselves names like Tony, Steve, etc.. Something I still don’t understand. Regardless, the pain in understanding these reps not only the language barrier, but the reps basically reading script, how frustrating it is to call Dell for support. If you ask for US support they act like you are insulting them and either hang-up on you or transfer you somewhere and then you get disconnected. Unreal!
So I tried several times to add the 3 yr extended warranty to my the computer I just received and the price they are quoting me is almost $400, where if I would have purchased it at the time of my purchase online it was $259! Wow, that is unreal! I just got the computer and the Dell system shows no warranty, then I want to spend more money with Dell and they want to sock it to me. This is WRONG DELL!
So now not only have you pissed me off, but since I am having problems with this system out of the box, it doesn’t do system updates. I have requested at RMA to return this computer, I am not happy with it.
Maybe I will order another Dell, but most likely not, I’ll buy an Asus or Acer, looks like Dell has managed to piss off another long term customer!
This is what happens when a company gets so big and careless about customer service and support.
I was giving no less than 4 different phone numbers:
