Classic LEGO toy blocks teach kids about renewable energy

It’s in the newspapers, on our television screens and talked about on the radio, there is a real and increasingly desperate need for new renewable energy sources to replace fossil fuels and other highly polluting forms of power. We may not see a successful and efficient solution in our life time, but our children or their children have a good chance at developing the right technologies.

We can constantly nag and remind the average person to start recycling or to switch from paper to digital forms; it may or may not get through to them. Though, there is definitely much stronger support for the green movement now then ever before and it is bringing visible change to the way large corporations do business and how products are being manufactured. But to make some real change that will affect massive change we need to focus on educating our kids from a young age, so that by the time they reach their20’s the need to save our planet and live in closer sync with the environment becomes second nature.

Lego has come up with a great new product that uses Lego building sets combined with a renewable energy add-on set they will be able to investigate 3 types of energy sources; wind, water and solar energy. These kits have been designed to aid science teachers by giving their lessons a bit of a fun edge, but they will also be available to the general public with the goal of educating our youth.
