Celebrating the Invention Of the Cheeseburger in Pasadena
Lionel Sternberger invented the cheeseburger in 1924, while working at his father’s roadside stand in Pasadena, California. The restaurant was called the Rite Spot and Lionel called his creation the Aristocratic Burger. Restaurants and locals pay homage to Lionel’s achievement annually with a week-long celebration starting January 26th through January 31st, 2020. During Cheeseburger Week from January 26th to January 31st, Pasadena honors Lionel Sternberger’s genius in being the first to put cheese to hamburger and serve it at the Rite Spot in Pasadena in 1924.
