Anyone else running into this problem with their Apple ID, the iTunes account that have used for years has been a non email account, now that you have iOS 5 installed you are required to use an email.
Is there a fix?
Apparently.
Log on using appleID – online on your computer and go to account settings,
there was a “make apple ID your email address” button (or similar text) here..
I clicked this and apple reset my ‘old’ appleID to my ‘new’ appleID – my email address..
waited a few minutes then on the iphone used the back button to go to the first ‘login in using appleID’ screen
Use your newly updated ID here…
Worked for me (though excuse my incorrect naming of the buttons, doing it from memory!)
Workaround:
Finally a workaround!!
I’ve had the same problem using the “make primary email my Apple ID” button. Nothing happens. The page just refreshes. So here’s what worked for me:
1. Login to your account online (https://appleid.apple.com) and go to Manage Account.
2. Edit your primary email address to another valid email address. Don’t worry, you can change it back.
3. Go the new email’s inbox and find the email from Apple asking you to verify this new address. Click Verify.
4. Go back to Manage Account and try using the “make primary email my Apple ID” button again. It should work now.
5. Now go back to your iphone and login with your new Apple ID credentials.
6. If you want, go back to Manage Account and change your Apple ID back to your original email address.
