Here’s some pictures form this past weekend on the Action Zipline course in Big Bear, up in the mountains at about 9, 000′ elevation. In the group, Victor Caballero, Jennifer Caballero, Jeffrey Naumann and about 10 others in our party.

You arrive at the office on the main street in Big Bear and you are shuttled up the mountain where you board a pinzgauer (off road, vertical ascent) to make the ascent up the mountain.

Here’s a picture of a pinzgauer, this one is in much better shape that then ones we rode up the mountain.

The first four lines we did, where for practice and training, to make sure we could handle the rest of the course, it does happen if you are not fit or not performing, you can be asked to leave the course.

The course is fun with a cable that is over 800′. Most the others are 200′-400′ or so.

The tour guides are friendly and safety conscious allow you to have fun and showing off some of their tricks. Obviously riding upside down is not something they want you to do, but you can do spins and go hands free just being careful and aware that you have to keep your legs up and be ready to slow down on the appropriate signals from the guides on each of the platforms.

The last two lines are probably the most fun and fast.

I’ll post some video later, but for now here’s some pictures of our group for you to see.

Action Zipline in Big Bear runs promotions from time to time, I believe if you keep an eye on Groupon, you can catch a deal for $45 for the tour, which is normally $99.

There are other ziplines in the Southern California area, be sure to check on the cancellation policy and postponing due to weather conditions.  Chances are if there are thunderstorms or lightning the tour will be cancelled.
