LOS ALAMITOS >> The U.S. Navy plans to make a splash at Sunday’s Wings, Wheels, Rotors and Expo at the Joint Forces Training Base.

The massive show, which is from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at 11200 Lexington Drive, is free to the public and features a wide variety of activities for the whole family, including free plane and helicopter rides.

Attendees will also be able to get up close to military aircraft, helicopters, vintage cars and warbirds. Public safety, first-responders and military equipment as well as public safety helicopters will be showcased.

Free flights in general aviation airplanes will be offered by the Experimental Aircraft Association, Young Eagles to young people between 8 and 17 years old who are interested in flying and aviation.

A pristine Chance Vought F4U-1 Corsair, a warbird from World War II that was flown in combat, will be showcased along with several other vintage planes.

Free flights for World War II and Korean War veterans will be offered by Ageless Aviation today and Saturday. Free flights will also be made available to young people from eight to 17 years old.

The car show will feature custom cars, new vehicles, motorcycles, roadsters, antique vehicles and hot rods.

There is free admission and free parking.
Donations will be accepted. A portion of the proceeds will go to the JFTB Morale Welfare and Recreation to support the armed forces personnel on the Joint Forces Training Base.

Smoking is not permitted on the base’s flight line. Dogs, bikes or alcohol are also not permitted.

A photo identification is required to enter the base.
