The Cost of Local Homegrown, Local Events, Why are the so expensive…

The cost of local events, wether it is a dinner put together by a group or a cooking class put on by another organization, some are even non-profits, is way too expensive for most people trying to support local events but just can’t afford it.

I just received an email from a local organization and a cooking class costs almost $100.

A three hour class on how to preserve tomatoes cost $100 or a class on making Kombucha is $50.

That is way too expensive for ordinary people, organizations need to appeal to those that are lower to middle income. I know we hear about how we should all shop at the farmer’s market… but when you go to the grocery store and shop and can buy peaches for less than $1 a lb or shop at the farmer’s market and pay $2 or even $3 a lb. How is that helping the struggling family that is having a hard time making ends meet?
