Stock Market Swings in 2012 – A Way to Make Money in the Stock Market?

Will 2012 be a year where we see several hundred point swings in the daily changes in the stock market? Will some see this as an opportunity to make large sums of money.

Was 2011 with the large swings proof that investors if they play the market can in fact make large sums of money investing and timing their investment in stocks and funds?

Individual stocks some showing large swings in trading. I believe there are some charts that show how acute some of these swings had been. Some of the more expensive stocks saw some days with  changes of 5% or more.
