Of all the TREK predecessors, the BEYOND excels by using its Sci-Fi framework that doesn’t give a feel of an artificial film at any given point as the film brims practically right from the opening moment through to the end. The budget of the film was $185 million. This speaks for the effort and contribution of the entire cast and crew in making the film go leap and bounds beyond its’ TREK antecedents giving it a new recognition. “Star Trek Beyond” nabbed an estimated $59.6 million debut in North America, topping industry expectations and winning the weekend box office in its first weekend release.
Director Justin Lin tells Empire STAR TREK BEYOND doesn’t have any deleted scenes that otherwise could’ve been added to the film as separate extras or as a Director’s cut. Whatever you see in the movie is pretty much what the cast and crew has shot during the film. He further explained:
We were very surgical. It was a really tight schedule. The challenge became our friend at the end of the day. There were a couple of moments with Spock and Bones that I ended up taking out, but it’s very slight. Everything you see in the film is pretty much what we shot.
Reception & the Critics Review
CNN Money mentioned, “The Paramount Pictures film received positive reviews from both critics and audiences who gave it an 85% score on review site Rotten Tomatoes and an A- CinemaScore.” The film has been applauded for its innovative use of Sci-Fi framework and here’s what the Critics say:
