Screening at the Skirball: FOOD CHAINS

On Thursday, January 28, the Skirball Cultural Center will present FOOD CHAINS, a documentary film followed by an insightful panel discussion.

With more interest in the food industry these days than ever, this documentary directs our attention to the hands that pick it. Narrated by Forest Whitaker, the film focuses on an intrepid group of tomato pickers working to ensure a dignified life for farm workers and a more humane, transparent food chain.

Revealing the human cost in our food supply and the complicity of the supermarket industry, the documentary also offers hope and promise for the triumph of morality over corporate greed. Recipient of the Social Impact Media Awards, SIMA 2015 Special Mention. Executive produced by Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Eva Longoria. Directed by Sanjay Rawal. (2014, 82 min. No MPAA rating.)

A panel discussion between director Sanjay Rawal, Joann Lo (co-director of the Food Chain Workers Alliance), and Jon Esformes (operating partner of Pacific Tomato Growers) follows the screening.
