Pasadena City Manager 2016 Selection Update

From the council meeting held this past Monday it appears that the candidates who have applied for the position of Pasadena City Manager have been varied including ethnic background. Could a woman or black or Latino be the next city manager of Pasadena?

Mayor Tornek had stated previously that the citizens would have a chance to participate in the selection process, but it doesn’t appear that this is going to happen, at least not if according to the Mayor’s timeline the final selection will happen in the first week of July.

Interim City Manager Steve Mermell has been filling in as City Manager and has also put himself in the candidates for City Manager of Pasadena.   Mr. Mermell certainly has experience working with Pasadena as Assistant City Manager.

The hope is that the next City Manager of Pasadena will have the right mix of experience and people skills to handle all of the requirements that a city like Pasadena will require, especially in light of the recent embezzlement and concern over increased violence in the city.
