Oriental Fruit Fly Quarantine For Pasadena, Altadena, Alhambra

Apparently,   Oriental fruit flies were found in Pasadena and most of Altadena, Pasadena,   and the San Gabriel Valley are under quarantine for the transportation of backyard produce. If you are in the quarantined area, you must consume your homegrown produce on your own premises.  Here is a link to the news story and map.

Cities affected by the Oriental Friut Fly Quarantine include parts or whole areas of Pasadena, Altadena, Alhambra, San Gabriel, San Marino.

We don’t know how long this quarantine will be in effect, but it is advisable that you keep an eye out.

As long as the state doesn’t start malathion spraying by helicopter, that was horrible years ago.  Made you feel like we lived in a war zone.

For more information, see the Department of Agriculture’s website or call the state Pest Hotline at (800) 491-1899.
