No Powerball winner, jackpot grows to $550 million

It’s happening again folks, the Powerball jackpot is continuing to grow at an incredible pace. A few times every year the Powerball starts to grow and millions of people in U.S. go jackpot crazy.

Powerball

The estimated jackpot of $550 million is only an estimate and will more than likely grow as the days get closer to Saturday. People everywhere are clamoring at their chance to win the jackpot or even a small slice of the pie. Cash value is said to be more than $350 million if taken in one lump sum instead of over 29 years!

Powerball is operated by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), who is a non-profit association owned and operated by 33 member lottery organizations. Profits are retained by each member state and are used to help fund state projects approved by legislation.

Currently, you are able to play Powerball in 43 of the 50 US States, Washington D.C., and the Virgin Islands. Tickets cost upwards of $2 depending on the type of ticket bought.

The odds of winning the jackpot is a staggering 1 in 175,223,510.00 but that doesn’t stop Americans from lining up at gas stations! The lowest prize amount is set at $4 for matching only the Powerball. All prizes are set cash amounts expect for in California, where payouts are based on sales and the number of winners.

If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, I suggest you do. If the jackpot continues to grow, which I suspect it will, it may end up being the second largest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game! The largest Powerball jackpot was in November of 2012, when the game hit an all-time high of $587.5 million.

Even if you don’t end up winning the jackpot prize, you could end up winning one of the lesser prize amounts of $1 million to $2 million. Make sure to check your tickets, history could be made on Saturday!
