Logistics
These changes will begin rolling out at 9 pm PST on March 1st (today); you don’t have to do anything unless you want a new sharing button. Changes may take up to 24 hours to roll out, so please refresh your cache to see the widget changes faster.

Feature Summary

  1. ShareThis Stream – We’ve long believed in making sharing simple, but we wanted to make it more social and engaging for our publishers and users. The Stream is a real-time view of what’s being shared across the web with social comments included.  The Stream will first live at www.sharethis.com but will soon be available for your Site as a customizable widget or API. Sign up to get on the beta list now.

  2. New Share Buttons – Based on popular demand, we’re releasing self-serve buttons that let you pull Facebook, Twitter, and email out of the sharing widget. We’re also launching some “share count” buttons that let you display the total shares through our button. Please email pubrelations@sharethis.com if you have any questions.

  3. Your related content on Done Screen – We are now surfacing related shared content from your site on the widget Done Screen to help drive more engagement to your content. This is in beta, so please bear with us if you notice some early refinements. If there is no shared content on your site, a static message will appear instead.

  4. “See what your friends are sharing” link on Done Screen – We’re removing the link to our Firefox plugin and replacing it with a “See what your friends are sharing” link. If users click this link, they are taken to the ShareThis Stream – filtered by your content.

  5. Social sign in – We are now allowing sign-in through Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Yahoo!. This will let your users share with more people even faster, so your content will reach more users.

  6. Twitter OAuth – We are now supporting Twitter Oauth for sign-in. This gives users a more direct Twitter sharing experience.

Also Coming Soon:

  1. Small & Fast – We’re always balancing increased functionality with performance and we will continue to decrease the size of the widget in coming months. Read about our latest load times here.

  2. Google Buzz integration – We will be adding Google Buzz to the widget soon- first with Reader integration and later with a more direct integration.

  3. Sharing Service API – We’ll continue to roll out more options to control how sharing is done on your site, while still leveraging ShareThis analytics.

We look forward to your feedback… Check out our new website, blog and of course, tweet with us.
