Ventura County, Calif., Jan. 3, 2012… The 44rd Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Air Show at Point Mugu is scheduled Saturday Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. The gates will open at 8 a.m. Admission and parking is free.
The 2013 Naval Base Ventura County Air Show at Point Mugu will feature the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels operate the Boeing FA-18C Hornet strike/fighter aircraft.
“I am very excited to announce the Blue Angels will be returning back to Naval Base Ventura County for the first time in eight years,” said Capt. James McHugh, Commanding Officer, Naval Base Ventura County. “The Blue Angels will headline the 2013 Naval Base Ventura County Air Show at Point Mugu. The Blue Angel aerial maneuvers will exhibit the professional qualities of the Navy personnel, who fly, maintain and support the aircraft.” He added.
The Blue Angels were authorized for establishment by the Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Chester W. Nimitz ordered the creation of the team on April 24, 1946. The Blue Angels flew at the first air show at Point Mugu known then as the Space Fair in 1960 operating the F11F-1 Tiger. The Blue Angels are home based at NAS Pensacola, FL.
More detailed air show information will be released as more military flight demonstrations are confirmed.
No air show at NBVC Point Mugu will be held in 2012.
