LAX Airport Electric Vehicle Parking, Free Nissan Leaf Parking

Electric Vehicle Parking
Free parking is available for electric vehicles only at charging stations located in the lower/arrivals level of Parking Structures 1 and 6 for up to a maximum of 30 days per visit.

No free parking privilege is available for Clean-fuel, Natural Gas-fueled and/or bi-fuel vehicles.

Read this story about how one Leaf owner had to take the risk of hoping to find an available charger. Apparently only two chargers are compatible with the Leaf, and two employees have cars that are parked there on a regular basis.

I read an article on there only being two parking charging spots
We have a Leaf and would like to better understand what the availability of spots is.
How many spots are available for Nissan Leaf compatible level 2 charging?
If there are no charging spots available, what are the options?
What prevents a electric car from parking in a charging spot for 30 days and nobody else can charge?

Here’s a posting in a forum:
This is NOT necessary to get free parking there, at least not at present. Just park in any space in P6, and when you exit, make sure they know you are an electric car. My cashier had to get help to figure out how to ring it up, but it was indeed free. Just, please, don’t give us a bad reputation by blocking charger spaces that others could use. We’ll hope that they put in some L1 or L2 chargers there soon. There are a few in structure P1, not far away, at the east end, on the outside wall.

This is an official response I received form a representative with LAX:

Good Morning Mr. Caballero,

Currently we only have two charging stations that compatible for the Nissan Leaf, and they are on a first come, first serve basis. You can check the availability of the ChargePoint charging stations here at LAX by clicking the following link https://www.mychargepoint.net/find-stations.php .

If there are no locations available, you can find another charging station near the airport via Google maps:

Thank you,
