When our colleague Jordan Peimer, Director of Public Programs at the Skirball, first experienced home sweet home at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he was transfixed by this fascinatingly unique performance installation and how, in just a few days, a mini-city blossomed. The project explores many issues the Skirball cares about so deeply: the importance of community, creating a civil society, and ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds can feel at home.

We’re now delighted to invite you to home sweet home at the Skirball. The wildly interactive community-building project, brought to you by the talented young British theater company Subject to_change, kicks off on Friday. The gallery is prepped: the Hollywood sign, Watts Towers, and Capitol Records building are all in place…waiting for YOU to purchase your property and start building a mini-L.A. You’ll decorate, meet the neighbors, petition the Town Council (if you wish!), and enjoy live D.J.s, including some favorites from KCRW!
