The Hollywood Farmers’ Market was issued an annual street closure permit (valid through June 30, 2012) to continue to operate in its current location. On Wednesday, the LA Film School officially suspended its objection to the market’s Sunday morning operations on Ivar Ave between Selma and Sunset Blvd.

Many thanks go out to Council President Eric Garcetti and his staff, the Bureau of Public Works, Market officials and staff, and of course the thousands of market supporters who made their voices heard during the process, calling for the market to remain in its current layout, as it has been for the past 20 years.

Thank you to our many supporters…
Selma Ivar SEE-LA, the non-profit operator of the market, would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to supporters for their continued efforts in communicating to the City Council and to others the importance of keeping the market as is, the significance of SEE-LA’s services to the city’s under-served population, and for advocating changes in city laws to ensure the long-term existence of farmers’ markets in public locations, where they are readily accessible and can provide healthy, sustainably produced food for their customers. SEE-LA also greatly appreciate the Councilman’s commitment to keeping the Hollywood Farmers’ Market thriving in Hollywood with the market’s anchor at the Selma / Ivar intersection. We thank him again for standing by our side throughout this sometimes difficult process.

Sustainable Economic Enterprises of Los Angeles (SEE-LA) is a private nonprofit community development corporation, dedicated to improving the quality of life in the City of Los Angeles, and supporting sustainable agriculture and small family farms. Our latest project, the Farmer’s Kitchen extends the presence of the market through the entire week, offering urban residents a convenient source of fresh produce and healthy meals through the joint effort of local farmers and urban chefs and apprentices.
