Google buys online photo-editing app Picnik.

Picnik, whose Web-based application lets people import and edit photos in a browser. Picnik, cloud photo editing service Picnik, giving users a way to edit, crop, touch-up, and add effects to their photos, without needing a stand-alone application.

Google did not disclose the cost of buying Picnik – a five-year-old start-up based in Seattle. The 20-strong team will start working on Picasa.
