Google Adding New Building At Headquarters

We all know what Google is.  Many of us use their search engine every day.  Since the company was founded in 1998, the company has grown to become much more than just a search engine, however, and it continues to evolve through research, acquiring new companies, and developing new products.  Some interesting things are going on down at their Mountain View, California headquarters.  We’ll go over some of the details surrounding the mysterious happenings at Google, known only as “Project X”.

Apparently Google is renovating their headquarters and adding some new buildings.  This is no small “add-on”, they are constructing something to the tune of $120 million.  The plans reportedly include a “secret lab” in which they will test new devices and services.  With Google reportedly researching ideas as diverse as smart glasses, driver-less cars, and the like, this “secret lab” must be the place to hang out.  It will be very interesting to see what Google comes up with over the next couple of years, and you can bet that most of those projects will do their time in the labs of Project X.

Google is also constructing a show-room type of building made for showcasing their latest innovations and prototypes.  This will apparently be used to woo investors and partners by demonstrating the potential of projects they are working on.  This museum-like building, known as the “Experience Center” would probably not be open to the general public, as it would house confidential projects that are still in the works.  Instead the 120,000 sq. ft. building is capable of accommodating up to 900 guests simultaneously, guests with influence and money.

It looks like Google is looking to keep Microsoft, Apple, and the others on their heels as Google powers forward not only in the software market now, but likely in the hardware department as well.
