Update: The Tesla media event is scheduled to take place, Oct 9, 2014 in Los Angeles at Hawthorne Airport, where we understand not only will details on the D be released, but also a prototype of the Tesla Model 3. Since there’s no prototype of the Model 3 which has been seen in public, this will be a welcomed development, as Tesla releasing a $30,000-$35,000 price range, will surely impact the competitors such as Nissan LEAF and Chevy Volt, who presently outsell the Tesla. Nissan LEAF is the #1 selling all electric vehicle.

Speculation is that it is a new model, just in time for auto shows around the globe, could it be a driverless Tesla? Model D for driverless….or perhaps Driver Assisted, others are speculating that it is a dual motor model, or all wheel drive.
Tesla has variations of the Model S, which has been wildly popular.
The Model X is out next year, which is basically a Model S turned into a stunningly stylish SUV.
The Model 3, which is supposed to be the lower priced $35,000 Tesla entry, announced earlier this year.
And don’t forget the original Roadster, which is very popular, perhaps we will see some enhancements on the Roadster in the coming years.
