Does Microsoft Mac Outlook Sync with iCloud Work?

Many wonder if there’s a way to get the latest Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac to work. Most indications are that there is no way to get it to work.  Apparently Microsoft doesn’t have the compatible CalDAV or CardDAV for calendar and contact support from iCloud. But is there a way around this short of using Mail, Cal, Contacts on the Mac OS?

This is the post from Microsoft which clearly states it is not currently possible.

It appears that you can’t even export the contacts into a compatible format to import into Outlook without jumping through some hoops. Why would Microsoft and Apple not facilitate a compatible method to sync?

What is interesting is that you could sync iCloud with Outlook for Windows, using the iCloud control panel software installed on a Windows 7, 8 or 10 system.

Apparently Apple stopped the sync services in OS 10.9, those running older versions 10.7 and 10.8 are apparently able to sync.

Outlook for Mac syncs calendars and contacts ONLY with Exchange or Office 365. It will not sync with services like Google that use CalDAV and CardDAV.
