Crowd Fusion is a publishing platform that combines several popular applications – like blogging, wikis, tagging and workflow management – with some original concepts.
Company history
Founded in 2007, Crowd Fusion raised $3 million from Velocity Interactive Group, Greycroft Partners and Marc Andreessen in July of 2008. Velocity’s Jon Miller and Greycroft’s Ian Sigalow joined our board of directors. When Miller left Velocity to become the CEO of Digital Media at Newscorp, Velocity changed its name to Fuse Capital and Fuse’s Mickie Rosen joined our board.
Showcase sites
In September of 2008, Crowd Fusion launched its first showcase site, Obsessable, covering consumer electronics. Our green news site Super Eco went live at the end of December. We picked tech and green for our showcase sites because our team is passionate about those topics, plus we know a great deal of talented writers and curators who can cover them in depth.
Working with publishers
In 2009, Crowd Fusion is helping other publishers conquer their verticals. We’re creating solutions for media companies, newspapers, magazines and advertisers in consumer categories like sports, finance, food, fashion, music, health, cars, entertainment and parenting. These interactions are confirming that what we’re doing solves problems that big publishers are facing online – but we knew that because we’ve run into those problems ourselves working on large scale sites.
That’s why we built Crowd Fusion.
