CSA Boxes
Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a new idea in farming, one that has been gaining momentum since its introduction to the United States from Europe in the mid-1980s. The CSA concept originated in the 1960s in Switzerland and Japan, where consumers interested in safe food and farmers seeking stable markets for their crops joined together in economic partnerships. Today, CSA farms in the U.S., known as CSAs, currently number more than 400. Most are located near urban centers in New England, the Mid-Atlantic states, and the Great Lakes region, with growing numbers in other areas, including the West Coast.

It doesn’t get better than this!

Posted by rm on 7th Apr 2009

Well, it only gets better if you have your own farm!…

We love being a part of the SCF CSA! Our son is learning that food is grown by actual living, breathing people in the soil of our Earth and that it doesn’t magically appear on supermarket shelves. The CSA boxes are affordable, accessible to the greater LA area, nutritious, locally grown, organic, and help to sustain our planet. And if that doesn’t convince you, the produce tastes so much better than commercially grown or processed food. I urge you to support the South Central Farmers and buy a box today!

Fitter, happier, more productive!

Posted by Whitney Mannies on 20th Mar 2009

Thanks for the box of outstanding organic options! I feel like I’m channeling the agricultural roots of my ancestors. There is enough produce that I split the box with a friend, eat the veggies every day, and it still lasts me the whole week. So good.

Abbondanza!

And such a deal! Not to mention it’s organic, seasonal, freshly picked and locally grown. Living downtown, but eating like I’m on the farm!

VITAL TO THE HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY

Posted by cdaniels on 31st Jan 2009

Access to fresh, non-toxic, produce is limited in the South Central Area. This Coop provides organic dark, leafy vegetables that can boost health. They offer fair prices, and they come out to each neighborhood.
