TechFire and the City of Burbank present the Burbank Tech Summit, featuring leading venture capital investors & entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley, Burbank, and beyond, on Nov. 5, 2015. Doors open at 9 am for a breakfast reception & networking, and the program runs from 10 AM to 12 noon. Cody Simms, Managing Director, Techstars
Cody Simms is Managing Director with Techstars, which runs The Disney Accelerator, a mentorship and investment program for tech startups in media and entertainment. Companies selected to participate receive $120,000, and mentoring from top Disney executives, including Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger, and leaders from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, ESPN and Walt Disney Imagineering, among others. Simms previously was Chief Product Officer at StumbleUpon and prior to that was VP Product for Yahoo!’s entertainment portfolio globally.

Annie Kadavy, General Partner, Charles River Ventures (CRV)
With offices in Silicon Valley and Cambridge, CRV is one of the nation’s oldest and most successful early-stage venture capital firms, having raised $2.1 billion across its VC funds since inception, and having invested in companies like Twitter, Yammer, and Zendesk. Their current fund is $320 million, and Kadavy focuses on consumer, mobile, commerce, and digital health companies. Her current investments at CRV include DoorDash, Laurel & Wolf, ClassPass, Cratejoy, and Patreon. Formerly with Warby Parker and Bain and Company, at CRV Kadavy has been named to the Forbes Magazine’s Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Venture Capital and the 2015 Forbes Midas Brink List; 7×7 also named her a top Bay Area VC.

Robin Richards, Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO, CareerArc
A Burbank tech success story, CareerArc is a leading HR technology company serving blue chip clients such as Starbucks, UPS, AT&T, and Hilton. CareerArc’s Internships.com division was acquired by Chegg in 2014 for $11 million. Richards previously led Blackboard Connect (formerly NTI Group), and was CEO of Vivendi Universal Net USA, and founding President of MP3.com, the internet’s first and preeminent digital music provider that had the largest IPO for an independent Internet company at that time. Honored as a Readers’ Favorite in Inc. Magazine’s 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Richards has received the LAVA (Los Angeles Venture Association) Award for Best M&A.

Jeff Worthe, President, Worthe Real Estate Group
Jeff Worthe is the Founder & President of Worthe Real Estate Group, a major developer and acquirer of Class A office projects in Southern California, controlling an estimated 70% of office space in Burbank, as well as office properties throughout the region, with tenants such as Yahoo, Microsoft, Sony Playstation, Disney, and Warner Bros. The 32-story Tower building where the Burbank Tech Summit will take place, is a Worthe property. He previously was formerly the principal of M. David Paul Ventures and co-founder of Centurion Real Estate Partners.

Tom Stillwell, CEO, Midnight Oil
Tom Stillwell has built Midnight Oil, based in Burbank, into a thriving agency, cultivating and growing deep client partnerships with Fortune 100 brands including: Activision, Disney, Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Microsoft/Xbox, Ubisoft and Universal.  Today, Tom not only acts as CEO, but also remains a hands-on member of the client management team.  When not working, watching football, or rocking out to the latest Radiohead release, Tom can be found hanging with his wife and two very tall daughters—and, watching football and maybe a little more football.

Mark Scott, City Manager, City of Burbank
Mark Scott is the City Manager for the City of Burbank, having worked in the city management profession for more than 35 years. He most recently served as city manager in Fresno, California, and has also been city manager in Culver City, California; Spartanburg, South Carolina; and Beverly Hills, California were he worked for 20 years, including 14 as city manager. He was the longest tenured city manager in Beverly Hills’ history. Ina addition to his public sector leadership, Scott also has an MBA from Stanford and a background having worked in the private sector, for American Airlines.
