ANAHEIM’S HONDA CENTER TO HOST INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION

Nashville, May 6, 2009 – The sounds you hear will be harmonious. They will be plentiful. And they will be uniquely American in their roots, but expansively international in their impact. They will come from thousands of people gathering to join in song in Anaheim, California June 28 – July 5.

Close harmony singers from across the world will meet in Anaheim for the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 71st annual international convention and competitions. Singers and their fans from several countries will gather for shows, clinics, competitions, and good old-fashioned sing-alongs.

The Society’s international convention returns to Anaheim after a 10 year hiatus. “Anaheim is a wonderful location for this event. It offers exciting activities for all ages,” said Barbershop Harmony Society CEO, Ed Watson. “The Anaheim Garden Walk is just outside the doors of the Honda Center, with its amazing restaurants and shops. Oh, and don’t forget Disneyland. There’s something for everyone.”

Disneyland Barbershop Day
With the theme park only steps away from the Honda Center, Disneyland Resort has declared Tuesday, June 30 as Barbershop Day at Disneyland, with discounted admission for convention attendees.

Our events staff has been working diligently to make Barbershop Harmony Society events affordable and enjoyable. In these days of rising prices, some costs are not going up! Attendees of the 2009 International Convention in Anaheim will benefit from hotel rates that will stay the same as this year’s rates, or in many cases go DOWN. For example, the least expensive hotel in our convention block is $89 per night and is just four blocks from the headquarters hotel. Since it is in the block, it will have bussing, and it will be acceptable for competitors.
