4th Annual Pasadena Magazine / FIDM Visual Merchandising Competition Winner at Therapy Clothing Pasadena on 3/11

PASADENA MAGAZINE, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FIDM & LOCAL COMMUNITY RETAILERS ANNOUNCES THE 4TH ANNUAL VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS COMPETITION
 

 

Pasadena CA, March 07, 2014 – Pasadena Magazine,in partnership with FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, and supported in part by: Vromans Bookstore, Therapy Pasadena and Whole Foods Market in Pasadena/Arroyo, is pleased to announce its fourth annual “Reasons to Love Pasadena”, FIDM Visual Communications Competition.

 

 

The Grand Prize winning FIDM student team will be announced at Pasadena Magazine’s March/April Hot-Off-The-Press party on March 11, 2014 (information below), receive the “Best Design” award, $1,500.00 in cash and prizes, and be featured in Pasadena Magazine’s May/June issue. The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite display from March 11- 21, 2014. The display with the most votes will receive the “Reader’s Pick” award and be featured in the upcoming May/June issue of Pasadena Magazine.

 

The Visual Communications Competition is a platform for FIDM students to showcase their design talents in front of the Pasadena community and participate in a unique occasion to work with real brands and in-store merchandise. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate the competition’s theme, “Reasons to Love Pasadena” while collaborating as teams to create amazing in-store displays for the four aforementioned retailers. These retailers represent the reasons why we love Pasadena.

 

WHO: The public is invited to watch “Reasons to Love Pasadena” displays come to life at the three Pasadena business locations: Vromans Bookstore, Whole Foods Arroyo, and Therapy Clothing Pasadena.

 

WHAT:  Compare scale models featured in our March/April issue with the final displays and vote for your favorite to receive the 2014 “Readers Pick” award.

 

WHEN: Displays will be available to the public Tuesday, March 11 to Friday, March 22.

Final presentations will be judged based upon acknowledgment of the competition’s theme, conceptual creativity, innovation and the inclusion of retail merchandise by a panel of renowned judges.

“Reasons to Love Pasadena” Judges

 

Paul Olszewski, Director of Windows & Interior Flagships Marketing for Macy’s Inc. Based out of New York, Olszewski is a national and international award winning window designer. With numerous awards for Excellence in Visual Merchandising and Design, Mr. Olzewski has been twice named as a top industry “influencer” in the DDI Portfolio Awards.

 

Ron V. Franco, Set Decorator, HBO’s “True Blood”. Franco has garnered four Primetime Emmy Award nominations in Set Decoration for HBO’s “True Blood” and NBC’s “Heroes”. Mr. Franco is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He is also an active member of the SDSA/Set Decorators Society of America, where he’s served as past president and Board of Director.

 

Sean Sager, is the Creative Director for Global Visual Group: Almax- Lifestyle-Trimco- Viaggio in New York. Sager has over 20 years experience in merchandising, display and retail design and has received numerous awards for outstanding windows and trade booth design.
