eggie burgers add a healthy spin to an American institution, similar to how we place a candle inside a Jack-O-Lantern to very slowly roast the pumpkin. Take a bite out of healthy fare with this Groupon.
The Deal

$11 for $22 Worth of Hummus, Pitas, and Healthy Salads

Pita Jungle

Founded by three former broadcasters and engineers, Pita Jungle now transmits fresh, healthy vibes with salads, tapas, and pitas stuffed with falafel, beans, or chicken. Small plates such as hummus or spanakopita make ideal starters or between-course palate pleasers, and healthy burgers replace beef disks with patties shaped from grilled portobello mushroom or seasoned black beans. Wood-fired pizzas borrow pitas as their base, piling on vegetarian combinations of pesto and feta or hearty creations centered on roasted chicken. Lively plates of mahi-mahi with pita chips or chicken del sol pack a flavorful punch. Enlivened by draft brews, daily happy hours let diners kick back and savor healthy fare.

Apple iPhone 5c and 5s On Sale Now – Gold Sold Out

Apple iPhone 5c and 5s On Sale Now – Gold Sold Out

Reports that at many stores people are being paid to stand in line for hours and buy phones, apparently they are bought pizza and made comfortable. There’s always someone with a angle on making money.

So these phones are apparently purchased without contract at full retail and then sold overseas to buyers willing to pay a premium.

Reports that close to 100 people received payment to stand in line to purchase an iPhone.

Will Apple make any changes to this policy?

The Rebirth of an Agricultural Empire
Sunday, September 29, 3pm-8pm
The Shed
1355 Lincoln Ave
Pasadena, CA 91103

The Rebirth of an Agricultural Empire: From top food producer to food desert, what happened and what’s next for growing food in Los Angeles County?

Until very recently, parkway gardens were still illegal in the City of Los Angeles, and residents were being issued $400 fines for planting edible parkway gardens in areas that are considered food deserts. Come to the Shed to discuss the past, present and future of urban agriculture in Los Angeles county, and how we can shape current policy to encourage our communities to grow food, not lawns.

Featuring a special presentation by Rachel Surls, of UC Cooperative Extension. From Cows to Concrete: From colonial times to the modern era, farming has played a special role in the formation and evolution of Los Angeles County. Once called “the Center of an Agricultural Empire” by the Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles was the top farm county not just in California, but in the nation from 1910 to the early 1950s. Learn about our history as a center for grain production, wine grapes, citrus, dairy farming and much more.  How did farming shape Los Angeles, and how did it fade away? And, what does it mean for us today with the new enthusiasm for gardening and urban farming? Rachel Surls is co-authoring a book on this topic and will share some LA farm history highlights.
