Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story @JustEatItFilm

Where is Your Food Going?

Catch the US premier of Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story on Saturday, October 18th.  Filmmakers Jen Rustemeyer and Grant Baldwin dive into the world of food waste after they pledge to quit shopping at grocery stores and survive only on food that would be thrown away. Tickets are available here!

Just Eat It – A food waste story (Trailer) from Grant Baldwin on Vimeo.

https://www.foodwastemovie.com

We collectively waste nearly 50% of global food. Jen and Grant dive into the chain of food waste from farm . . .to the back of the fridge.
Description

We all love food. We devour countless cooking shows, food magazines and foodie blogs. We celebrate our marriages, religious beliefs and birthdays over food. The question is, “why are we throwing away nearly half of it away?”

Follow Jen and Grant as they explore the chain of food waste from farm to the “back of the fridge”. Along their journey they question sell by dates, perfect produce and portion sizes, while pledging to survive only on (pre-consumer) foods that would otherwise be thrown away.

**JUST EAT IT IS CURRENTLY ENTERING FESTIVALS. IT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY SCREENINGS UNTIL AFTER OUR FESTIVAL RUN – STAY TUNED!**

We believe that coffee holds its flavor best at a steady temperature of 85 degrees Celsius. To us, the name 85C symbolizes our devotion to provide coffee of the highest quality. We hope to give our customers the best drink possible by paying careful attention to every detail which may affect its taste. Of course, our goal of perfection extends to all of our products, not just our coffee.

85C Bakery Cafe was founded with the philosophy of 5-star quality at affordable prices.
One afternoon a few years ago in Taiwan, the founder of 85C Bakery Cafe, Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsueh took a group of business associates to a cafe in a local five-star hotel to celebrate their success. Peering through the window, he saw that people outside of the cafe were busy and rushed, whereas the patrons inside the cafe were having a relaxed moment enjoying gourmet deserts and drinks. Upon opening the menu, he realized the fact that the prices were set way too high for ordinary people to enjoy on a whim. At that moment, Mr. Wu envisioned a cafe that provides five-star quality coffee, cakes and breads at not so five-star prices. Thus 85C Bakery Cafe’s journey begins…
The first 85C Bakery Cafe was opened in Taipei, Taiwan in 2004. We currently have over 700 stores in Taiwan, China, Australia, Hong Kong, and the U.S.A.

Tesla Autopilot and AWD Announcement @teslamotors

During the event on Oct 9, 2014, which started a little after 8pm PST. Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced several items, primarily that every new Model S is now Autopilot enabled, with software updates being delivered to provide enhancements.

The AWD dual motor option will provide 0-60 in 3.2 seconds! Yes that’s fast or as Musk described “insane” mode on the Tesla.

Musk features like the car getting ready for you or picking up at a location based on your calendar and appointments. Seems futuristic… well the future is here. Imagine your Tesla dropping you off and parking itself in a parking structure.  Yes, like a valet Knight Rider KITT car.

Musk jokingly even offered that someday the car will plug itself in.  Which we believe the technology for wireless charging will become a reality as well.

Autopilot

Model S comes standard with a forward looking camera, radar, and 360-degree ultrasonic sensors that actively monitor the surrounding roadway. Progressive software updates over time will enable sophisticated convenience and safety features that use these sensors to respond to real world conditions. These features will ultimately give Model S Autopilot capability on the highway from on-ramp to off-ramp.

Options

Tech Package with Autopilot

The Tech Package adds a host of features to an already advanced car.

  • Autopilot convenience features available through software updates
  • Onboard maps and navigation for North America with free updates for 7 years

AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda – See AWAKE in theatres across the nation! @AwakeYogananda

Dear AWAKE Community,

The moment has finally come!

AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda officially opens to the public this Friday, Oct. 10 at the Village East Cinema in New York City.  On Thursday, the Indian Consulate is graciously hosting us at a private reception to help launch the film in NYC.

The following week, we open in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Then AWAKE expands nationwide. Below is a list of cities in which we have bookings, check our website for details or follow the links below:
Albuquerque, NM
Berkeley, CA
Chicago, IL
Dallas, TX
Los Angeles, CA
Pasadena, CA
Portland, OR
San Jose, CA
Santa Fe, NM
Tucson, AZ

Atlanta, GA

Boulder, CO
Claremont, CA
Encinitas, CA
Minneapolis, MN
Philadelphia, PA
San Diego, CA
San Rafael, CA
Seattle, WA
Tulsa, OK
Yellow Springs, OH

Bellingham, WA
Cambridge, MA
Cleveland, OH
Kansas City, MO
New York, NY
Phoenix, AZ
San Francisco, CA
Santa Cruz, CA
Sebastopol, CA
Washington, DC

Many of these listings are for a weeklong engagement of 3-4 showings per day — so while it may be tempting to go immediately on the first night, we encourage you to distribute your attendance throughout the week to draw larger audiences to each showing.  Some of the cities above are limited engagement of one or two shows — check the links for more info.

If your city is not represented above and you are located in the U.S., you can help bring AWAKE to a theatre near you by using Gathr® “Theatrical on Demand.”  It’s actually quite simple and fully explained on our screenings page.  You can request a screening using your zip code and Gathr finds a theatre near you.  You won’t have to pay any fees — just spread the word and get people to sign up for tickets. Once your screening reaches the “tipping point” (when the minimum number of tickets have been reserved), it becomes a reality!  (No one is charge until it’s a go.)

We are deeply grateful for your continued support.  Together we can bring AWAKE to communities across America!  (And soon we will announce our plans for international distribution.)

Namaste,
Paola, Lisa & Peter
