PUBLIC INVITED TO FOOD DAY PASADENA CELEBRATION OCT. 24, 2014

PASADENA, Calif.—The public is invited to celebrate healthy living with lots of fun activities at Food Day Pasadena Friday, Oct. 24, 2014.  The free family festival hosted by the Public Health Department will take place from 12-4 p.m. at 1845 N. Fair Oaks Ave.

Held in conjunction with the national Food Day celebration, Food Day Pasadena represents a local movement for healthy, affordable and sustainable food for all residents.

The event will kick off with a welcome address by Mayor Bogaard, followed by live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, healthy food tastings, children’s activities and raffle prizes.  The festival will also feature information booths where the public can get details about local healthy eating, food assistance and urban agriculture.

At 1:30 p.m., the public can attend a community health forum on the second floor of the Public Health Department, Room 2407.  Staff will hold a discussion on improving access to healthy food options to create healthier Pasadena neighborhoods.  Additionally, staff will unveil the results of a neighborhood assessment called Communities of Excellence in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention (CXᶟ).

Larry Bressler, Chefs Center’s Director of Operations & Wife Killed in Pasadena – RIP

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you that Larry Bressler, Chefs Center’s Director of Operations, died tragically this morning.
Larry was an esteemed and well regarded member of our team and the community at large. He will be greatly missed.

Chefs Center will continue to operate as normal, which we know Larry would want. We will provide you with more information as it comes available.

What does “bachi” mean?

For us there is a dual meaning.  Bachi is an abbreviated term for the word “Hibachi” which refers to a method of Japanese style of grilling.  The word bachi also means to treat others how you would like to be treated in return.

Asian-style Burgers and Unique Beverages

Our burgers are inspired from the varied asian influences from the Hawaiian islands.  Boba drinks and milkshakes, sodas made in house and Asian style iced teas, milk teas and coffees were an obvious pairings with our unique burgers and sandwiches.  For our beer menu we looked towards local domestic microbrews in the U.S. that could match up to our flavors with a few imports to compliment.  Our Sake offerings are carefully selected to pair well with our cuisine yet offer great variety to our discerning customers.

Environment

Bachi Burger has a strong belief in sustainable and environmentally principled business practices and products.  All of our used oil is recycled locally as a renewable energy source.  All food compost is transported to local farms.  All other post consumer waste materials that can be recycled are separated daily.  We continue to research both food and non-food products for materials that are either recycled or did not have a negative impact on the environment during growing or production.  That is our commitment to the world we all live in.
