Golden Road Brewing – “TO CATCH A DOLLAR: Muhammad Yunus Banks on America,”

Golden Road has something brewing on their lawn next month. The popular local brewery will host a new event, Movie for Microcredit, which includes a special screening to benefit Whole Planet Foundation. On Friday, March 29, 2013, Golden Road Brewing will reel out “TO CATCH A DOLLAR: Muhammad Yunus Banks on America,” which is a documentary that follows Nobel Peace Prize winner Professor Yunus as he brings his unique and revolutionary microfinance program to the US.

In addition to the screening, Golden Road Brewing will also be serving $3 cans and wine. The event will also include raffle drawings with prizes such as gift baskets, a tour of Golden Road Brewing and gift certificates to various Los Angeles restaurants and businesses.

Tickets include complimentary Whole Trade Guarantee Popcorn Indiana popcorn and Guayaki Tea. Guests of all ages are welcome.

Whole Planet Foundation is a Whole Foods Market foundation that funds poverty alleviation worldwide where the company sources products. The nonprofit’s mission is to empower the poor living in developing-world communities with microcredit and the chance to create or expand a home-based business and lift themselves and their families out of poverty. As of February 2013, Whole Planet Foundation is funding microlending programs through microfinance institution partners in the U.S. and across 54 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, supporting more than 1.5 million people with a chance for a better life.

In addition to the screening, Golden Road Brewing will also be serving $3 beers to movie-goers and wine. The event will also include raffle drawings with prizes such as gift baskets, a tour of Golden Road Brewing and gift certificates to various Los Angeles restaurants and businesses.

PASADENA CITY HALL TURNS OUT THE LIGHTS, GOES DARK ON MARCH 23 FOR EARTH HOUR

At 8:30 p.m., PDT, Saturday, March 23, 2013, Pasadena will join hundreds of cities and thousands of people around the world to “go dark” for one hour during Earth Hour 2013, organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)  https://worldwildlife.org/   Lights at the historic City Hall Dome, 100 N. Garfield Ave. will be turned off for one hour.

Pasadena residents can also participate by turning out all non-essential lights and urging family, friends and neighbors to do the same.

Brad’s Bio: 

Brad has been an early stage investor and entrepreneur since 1987. Prior to co-founding Foundry Group, he co-founded Mobius Venture Capital and, prior to that, founded Intensity Ventures, a company that helped launch and operate software companies. Brad is also a co-founder of TechStars.

 

Brad currently serves on the board of directors of BigDoor, Cheezburger, Fitbit, FullContactGnip, MakerBot, MobileDay, Modular RoboticsOblong, Orbotix, Rover.com, SafeInstanceSEOMozStanding Cloud, and Yesware for Foundry Group. Previously, Brad was an executive at AmeriData Technologies after it acquired Feld Technologies, a firm he founded in 1987 that specialized in custom software applications.

 

In addition to his investing efforts, Brad has been active with several non-profit organizations and currently is chair of the National Center for Women & Information Technology, co-chair of Startup Colorado, and on the board of Startup Weekend. Brad is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of venture capital investing and entrepreneurship and writes the widely read blogs Feld Thoughts, Startup Revolution, and Ask the VC.
