Join us on June 20th for our Open House
It’s that time of year again. That is, time for our biggest and most notorious party, the Crushpad Open House on June 20th. If you’ve attended before, you already know there will be an opportunity to taste a bunch of different wines, eat delicious food from gourmet mobile contraptions and share some laughs with some good people. As usual we’re scheming new features and wrinkles. RSVP here.
One of those new wrinkles is the first annual Allocation Swap Meet for our clients to trade allocations of their wines with other clients. If you have bottled wine at Crushpad and are interested in diversifying your inventory, check out the special RSVP page for the Swap Meet. Tell us what you want to trade in the notes field on this RSVP page and we’ll have your trade materials ready and waiting for you at the Open House. Then it’s up to you to wheel and deal. If you sign up for the Swap Meet you will automatically be RSVP’d for the Open House as well.
Looking forward to seeing you here on Saturday June 20 between 2-6PM.
Michael

Geek-chic SoCal tech event opens call for Showoffs
Innovative Start-ups Wanted for Twiistup 6
Los Angeles, CA – May 19, 2009 – Twiistup, Southern California’s premier event showcasing innovation and connecting professionals from the worlds of technology, media and entertainment, invites startups to apply for 10 free ‘Showoff’ slots at Twiistup 6 starting today. Twiistup 6 takes place on Thursday and Friday, July 30 and 31, 2009 at the Universal Hilton in Universal City, Calif.
Showoffs at Twiistup have the chance to gain exposure and visibility in front of a mix of investors, entrepreneurs and other influencers in the tech/media industry. This year, a panel will select 10 entrants based on qualities including:
– contribution to technology, innovation and entrepreneurship
– value and appeal
– originality and inspirational or thought-provoking content
Winners will be selected in two rounds, the first ending June 12 and the last on June 26, with preferential consideration given to applications received before the round one deadline. Twiistup recently announced an expanded agenda that adds a full day program to the established evening showcase, giving Showoff companies significantly more exposure.
“Sponsors are paying thousands of dollars for space that we’re giving to Showoffs for free,” said event producer Francisco Dao. “If you’re a startup who wants exposure there’s no reason not to throw your hat in the ring.”
Having outgrown all of its previous venues Twiistup 6 moves to the Universal Hilton where it will occupy over 23,000 square feet of space.
Showoff companies will be selected by a panel of the following five judges established in the world of technology and media:
Companies interested in entering for one of the 10 featured Showoff spots can apply on the Twiistup Web site at www.twiistup.com/call-for-showoffs/.
A limited amount of passes are available for media and bloggers. Media who would like a complimentary ticket to the event should email a request to twiistup@lewispr.com.

If you haven’t already heard, Twiistup 6 is going to see a big expansion and be 1 1/2 days. We’re still keeping the party – and the open bar – but we’re working hard to make it the flagship showcase of innovation and digital media.
Hope to see you all at Twiistup 6 in July and tell your entrepreneur friends to get their showoff applications in before the first round closes (June 12th) for their best chance of getting a slot.

There’s been another accident on Orange Grove at the intersection of Hill Ave. in Pasadena, CA.
When will city officials get it that there is a serious problem here with traffic flow and the safety of cars. Mostly that cars drive way too fast.
Dear city officials, please start to do something about this soon!
