Pasadena City Manager Search 50 Applicants @passtarnews @pasadenagov

According to the Pasadena Star News the search firm for Pasadena contracted to recruit for the vacated Pasadena City Manager position previously held by Mr. Michael Beck reached 50 applicants at the deadline of May 13, 2016.

The Pasadena City Manager position described here on the Bob Murray and Associates website, includes information about the City of Pasadena and benefits of the position.

The current Interim City Manager Mr. Steve Mermell has applied as one of the candidates to be considered.  Mr. Mermell has worked for the City of Pasadena for 27 years most recently as Assistant City Manager under Michael Beck and presently the Interim City Manager.

According to Mayor Tornek residents will have an opportunity to participate in some fashion when the candidates are narrow down, which should be sometime in mid-June.

Mr. Beck left in February after a costly long drawn city funds UUT embezzlement, and a variety of management issues within various departments, including health department, public works, police and fire. Yet the new position for Mr. Beck at UCLA puts him in charge of the departments he had difficulty with in Pasadena.

Hopefully the next City Manager will have the skills and personality to communicate with the residents and city staff.

More details should be available in June as candidates are reviewed and narrowed down.
