Apple iPhone Battery Recall iPhone 5 Notice and Link to Check

As many have experienced, although the exact number is not known, the iPhone 5 suffers from a defective component causing short battery life, in some cases on a few hours.

You can check your iPhone 5 by entering the serial number here.

We made an appointment at our local Apple store, and two phones batteries replaced took about an hour. No leaving the phone overnight.

The new battery comes in around 45% charged, so keep that in mind, that you need to get it charging right away, also be sure to turn on the “Find My iPhone” as the Apple rep will have you turn it off, as policy at Apple stores is to not work on any iPhone where the customer cannot turn off the “Find My iPhone” feature/setting.

A few days ago we told how Apple has opened its iPhone 5 recall program for battery replacement after acknowledging that some units were supplied with faulty batteries. There has been a long-running saga about battery drain for the iPhone 5 so owners of this handset will be pleased to know that something is finally being done.

Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently. The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range.

If your iPhone 5 is experiencing these symptoms and meets the eligibility requirements noted below, Apple will replace your iPhone 5 battery, free of charge.
