Vegan Juneteenth BBQ Celebration

Celebrate freedom! Join us in Atwater for Juneteenth, the celebration of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. The proclamation declared “that all persons held as slaves are, and henceforward shall be free.”

Juneteenth celebrations, which originated in Texas, feature barbecue. We’re serving it vegan — Urban Dinner Socials style!

Sponsored by Whittier Backyard Farms, our vegan BBQ menu includes cultured strawberry soda, eggplant ribs, fried green tomatoes, and blackberry cobbler.

We’ll dine under the stars on this beautiful June evening.

All-Vegan Menu:

– Cultured Strawberry Soda
– Eggplant Country Style Ribs
– House-Made BBQ Sauce
– Fresh Baked Buns from The Baker’s Mark***
– Fried Green Tomatoes with Spicy Remoulade
– Sweet Potato Fries
– Coleslaw with Cultured Cabbage and Coconut Mayonnaise
– Blackberry Cobbler with Raw Cashew Vanilla Ice Cream

Dove Pressnall, Executive Director of Survivors’ Truths (working in Africa and America), will present on emancipation, freedom, and how media is used today to work with people affected by violence and/or discrimination to inform and inspire others.

Come enjoy delicious food and good company with the Urban Dinner Socials.
