EBT System Failure Related to System Backup

Thousands of EBT recipients where affected by a outage of the system managed and operated by Xerox corporation for the governments of California and 16 other states.

Xerox issued a statement that the issue was resolved Saturday evening and is investigating cause of the issue.   Early reports are that Xerox was testing a backup system when the live system apparently went down and no EBT transactions at any stores could be completed.

Affecting thousands of stores, and hundreds of thousands of families who rely on the program to buy groceries for their families.

The EBT program is operating again, but it leaves many questions about the people who are on the program.
