 Is 3-D Printing
Creating a New Entrepreneurial Ecosystem?

E-trade software developer turned 3D Print Entrepreneur, Brian Arandez of Thingify, Inc. to speak at Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum May 11th

Come hear Brian’s vision for the future of manufacturing through 3D printing, along with our other panelists of experienced entrepreneurs from the 3D printing industry. Visit entforum.caltech.edu to read the bios of our speakers and register for this exciting event.

Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum

Saturday, May 11, 2013

Baxter Hall Auditorium

California Institute of Technology, Pasadena
8:00 AM – Noon

Featured Speakers include Brian Arandez of Thingify, Inc., Tara Tiger Brown of LA Makerspace, Diego Porqueras of Deezmaker, and Edward Tacket of UC Irvine and Saddleback College.

Not too long ago, 3-D printing was limited to the creation of an expensive and very fragile white starch model. Now it is possible to print in everything from ABS plastics to metals to chocolate! Home printers are available and evolving rapidly as the printer designers print their own parts for the next generation designs (and in some cases, get royalties on the designs when someone orders a print). Come to the May 11 Entrepreneurs Forum to hear from UC Irvine’s research consortium about what will be possible in the near future. Then hear from a Kickstarter-funded entrepreneur and others about the niches they are creating in this ecosystem along with how things are working out for them. For complete program description, speaker bios and to register go to www.entforum.caltech.edu.

Event Preview

Not too long ago, 3-D printing was limited to creation of an expensive and very fragile white starch model. Now it is possible to print in everything from ABS plastic to metals to chocolate. Home printers are available and evolving rapidly as the printer designers print their own parts for the next generation of printers. Finally, sharing sites are springing up where people can publish designs (and in some cases, get royalties on the designs when someone orders a print). Come to this forum to hear from UC Irvine’s research consortium about what will be possible in the near future. Then hear from a Kickstarter-funded entrepreneur and others about the niches they are creating in this ecosystem and how it is working out for them.
