Pasadena South Lake Farmer’s Market Starts July 10, 2012

If you have driven down South Lake Ave in Pasadena you may have noticed the pole banners promoting the upcoming farmer’s market to be held on South Lake Ave in Pasadena.

From what the sign says and I am not able to confirm any details because there doesn’t appear to be anything online about it.

It starts July 10, 2012

Located at 251 S. Lake Ave, which appears to be the Corporate Business Center tall white buildings courtyard.

Operates on Tuesdays, from 10am-2pm.

We have no other details, but it appears to be organized by the South Lake Ave and Raw Inspirations(which operates many markets in the Southern California Area).

Unless you work in the South Lake Ave district it might be difficult for you to attend, as it is when most people work.

Stay tuned as the South Lake Ave district continues to grow.

Free 1 hour parking with purchase

GrillGrate Award Winning Cooking Surface – Replace BBQ Grates

GrillGrate Hard Anodized Grill Grid Kit

Grill Grate, The Original Raised Rail Design

GrillGrate is an award winning cooking surface with a raised rail design for gas, charcoal, or electric grills. The GrillGrate provides users with a unique grilling experience, searing in meat’s juices, controlling flare-ups and eliminating unwanted fat. Heat is driven up the raised rails for perfect steakhouse searing every time. Good juices sizzle just below the food and the fatty juices drain out through the elliptical fat draining holes. The drained fat chars the back of the GrillGrates and not your food.

GrillGrates can be placed directly on the existing grates of a grill and will last or outlast the life of the grill. Grillers can cook lean meats, fish, vegetables and even expand the regular grilling menu to include pastas and pizzas without burning or drying out food.

Grilling is as American as apple pie and has become part of our day-to-day lives. People are interested in eating healthy, are dining out less and are bringing the restaurant experience home. Over 60% of all Americans are grilling all year round, nearly half during the winter months.

The Original Raised Rail Design™ Delivers steakhouse searing every time while preventing charring flare-ups. Designed to drain fat through the elliptical holes, but keep good flavorful juices simmering just below the grilled food to aromatically seal in taste. A set of two GrillGrates = 10.5″ x 13.75″ cooking surface.

The GrateTool™ is no ordinary spatula. It fits in between the rails for easy lifting of delicate food and pizza and the GrateTool acts like a scooper for vegetables, or grilled asparagus, etc. The GrateTool doubles as a cleaning tool as well to scrape the valleys clear of debris. GrillGrate, Eat Well!

Brad Barrett – Founder

Backyard Gardner Money Stolen

I love to support the local backyard gardner, and it really is upsetting when a gardner wants to share his bounty with others and asks for a small contribution to cover some of the expenses of growing vegetables.

Yes, this is what happened to a family that is growing vegetables in their yard.

They placed a table out front of their house with a self service setup and a bottle of money, well someone thought it would be a good idea to steal the money and had no interested in buying anything.

This is disgusting!

Motorcycle Accident Fatality on Walnut St Near Allen Pasadena June 23, 2012

Motorcycle Accident Fatality on Walnut St Near Allen Pasadena June 23, 2012

Early this afternoon there was a serious motorcycle fatality accident on Walnut Ave, near Allen, the closest cross-street is Meridith near Tops Burger.

E Walnut St & N Meridith Ave

Here’s a view of the intersection.

There was talk at the scene about the driver of the motorcycle not wearing a proper head protection and that may have contributed to the death.

I’m sure a full report investigation will be completed by the Pasadena accident investigation and coroner’s office.

Flour + Tea – Pasadena – New Tea Shop

Updated 6-23-2012: I finally stopped in to this business, I had my dog Willie with me and as I was driving by I saw a table out front which was inviting. So I parked in the building which is convenient and if that parking is full you can always park in the Metro Del Mar Station lot for 90 minutes free.

The quality of the pastries is amazing.  Apparently a famous Taiwanese baker is responsible.

The hours are typically late for the area, usually safe between 10am- 8pm, with Friday and Sat open until 10pm. The teas at Flour & Tea are from Taiwan and China.

Nancy Ou and Johnson Wang are the co-owners. I had the pleasure of meeting Johnson.

More on this fine establishment in the coming weeks. They have been opened for about 11 weeks.

The closest other tea type business is Bird Pick.

Flour + Tea Pasadena

Serves Ten Ren style (boba) milk teas and pastries.

The latest branch of the Taiwanese tea shop is located at the bottom of  The Dalton, a mixed use condo.

If you do check it out, I’m curious to know if the tea quality is just about the same as Ten Rens/Tea Station in the San Gabriel/Arcadia area…
