Portia De Rossi’s previous battle with anorexia

The Arrested Development star is obviously trimmed down, that figure is showed many times while on the red carpet with wife Ellen De Generes. But behind the skinny figure is a ghost that hunted De Rossi in the 1990’s when she landed a role on Ally Mcbeal. Her daily bout with anorexia took a toll on her body putting her weight down to a measly 82 pounds. Now for a midget that’s overweight but considering De Rossi’s height is 5 foot 8 that’s really under nourished. During her interview with Oprah Winfrey she recounted her battle with the eating disorder during her transfer from Australia to Hollywood. At that time she was consuming only 300 calories a day. Self control and will power had taught De Rossi to trim down to 82 pounds although recounting everything as something that she is not proud of. This was apparently blown out of proportion when her dedication became an obsession. This led her to a contorted mentality that she would rather die than fail another diet plan. Anorexia led her to collapse on the set of the 2001 film Who is Cletis Tout. Ellen De Generes was a big help for De Rossi now weighing a much improved 168 pounds.
