San Gabriel Valley – Morris Fire – Angeles National Forest

Fire fighters continue to battle the Morris fire, located near the Santa Fe Dam Recreational area in San Gabriel Valley.
The fire has consumed approx. 600 acres and it continues to grow, estimates are it could consume 1000+ acres.
Temperatures are predicted above 100 during today.
The fire is on both sides of the Highway 39 which winds up the San Gabriel Valley Mountains, above the Azusa area.
There are two reservoirs located near the fire, Morris and San Gabriel. The fire is moving at a pretty good rate.

Here in Pasadena you can smell and see the large plume of smoke.
The smoke is covering most of the area.  Reports of people able to smell the smoke through the basin as far as Hollywood and beyond.

Day 2 – Tankers are being brought in to drop water, fire retardant starting around 8am.

The area is located within the Angeles National Forest above the city of Azusa deep in the brush.

Red Flag Warnings are issued through Friday. Low humidity. Dry and hot. Santa Winds are expected to kick up.

All resources from Southern California are being put to task for this fire.
